I'm Kathy aka BrunetteOnTheCouch. I've been loving Larry Hagman and Linda Gray or "the Ls" as I refer to them since I first saw them play J.R. and Sue Ellen Ewing April 2,1978 -- the night Dallas premiered.
I was a HUGE I Dream of Jeannie Fan and went into Dallas that night with the thought "where's Barbara Eden?" but that quickly became "Barbara who?" the second I laid eyes on the "brunette on the couch" in a scene with Larry.
She had no words and he was merely a background guy himself back then but I could feel the "magic" from that first scene. That hooked me on their characters but it was an appearance on the Dinah Shore show that hooked me on the Ls. The whole cast went on but for what would become the norm for me all I saw was them. I couldn't take my eyes off them. I was 10 yrs old and I only knew "J.R. and Sue Ellen" the couple that fought and didn't get along but the Ls were the direct opposite. They absolutely adored each other and it was apparent they had become best friends from the getgo.
I had never seen two actors with more sexual chemistry and perfect together in every way then the Ls in 1978 and I haven't since and it's 2012.
They are to me sexual chemistry personified. They are also friendship in the most beautiful and purest sense of that word.
I've been hooked since then. I've followed them lo these past 30 years and I wanted a place I could express that love and celebrate their beautiful one of a kind friendship. I wanted a place where there was nothing but love for them and their characters. Where it could be expressed without worry of scorn or nazi like tactics from Linda hating admins.
So I created Old Friends: Larry and Linda Online the board and now a tumblr blog. I chose that name because that's what Larry called them in his inscription on a picture he gave as a gift to Linda many years back: "Old Friends. Love Larry."
This is a blog for fans of the Ls and their very special friendship and for those that love J.R. and Sue Ellen Ewing.
